The Ninh Thuan provincial People’s Committee has announced that four new wind power projects that are being developed in the south central project are scheduled to be complete by the end of 2018.

These include the second phase of the Dam Nai wind power plant in Ninh Hai and Thuan Bac districts, the Mui Dinh plant in Thuan Nam District, and the Trung Nam and Cong Hai plants in Thuan Bac District.

The first phase of Dam Nai began construction in April 2017 and went into operation in August of that year. The Dam Nai wind power project covers an area of 9.6 hectares and has a total investment of US$80 million. The 40MW project consists of 16 wind turbines that were supplied by Spain’s Gamesa Corporation. Vietnam’s TSV Joint Stock Company and Singapore’s renewable developer, The Blue Circle, installed the wind turbines.

By the end of September, Ninh Thuan had 15 solar power projects in development with a total design capacity of 1,100MW. All projects are expected to be complete in 2019, and when complete, they will bring the total number of the wind projects in the province to 29, with a combined capacity of over 1,938MW.

Ninh Thuan province has a goal to become Vietnam’s renewable energy hub. The province is promoting investment opportunities and creating the best possible conditions for investors to accelerate the progress of renewable energy projects.

According to Ninh Thuan officials, investors operating in renewable energy will be exempt from land rent during the implementation of projects, will be exempt from tariffs on imported goods and benefit from a corporate income tax waiver for four years.
